VBA giving out Builders Licences in Victoria? This is the question we’re getting every day from people wanting to go for their Registration.
As COVID lock down hits Victoria for the second time it is business as usual if you want your Builders Licence in Victoria.
The Victorian Building Authority who hands out the Licences to Victorian Builders has been working to give guidelines to the Victorian Building and Construction industry about how to work safely on site and reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
But are they giving out Registrations during the shutdowns in Victoria? Answer: YES!!!
So how do I get my Builders Licence during COVID?
The VBA are open for business and since the first restrictions in March we’ve helped over 60 Domestic Building and Construction workers get their DB-U and Domestic Builder Limited Registrations in Victoria.
The VBA have done a fantastic job in keeping things going during these crazy times and we’re not going to lie but sometimes it’s taken a little longer than usual for some of our guys, but they are still getting their Victorian Building Registration.
One of the issues with COVID is that the VBA in a move to protect the health and safety of VBA staff, practitioners and the public have moved all there teams to working from home which has meant that response times have slowed up a little.
What changed? The process of getting Registered has taken a bit longer for some of our clients but it certainly hasn’t stopped our success getting Builder Licences for people working in the industry.
At Builders Licence Made Easy, our last 4 months have been some of the busiest on record with so many joining our Builders Registration Course to prepare for their tests and Interview at the VBA.
So many people have called us with different stories of how the pandemic has changed their work situation and that many are starting to see the writing on the wall because the Builder or Company they work for doesn’t have a lot of work in the pipeline. A lack of job security or reduction of possible future work is one of the main reasons people are looking at getting their Builder Licence.
As someone said to me the other day… “the best part about the Corona Virus is that it’s made me get up off my backside and go for my Licence which I should have done years ago.”
What happens if Building Contracts start to dry up in Victoria?
Of course the benefits of having your Builders Licence in Victoria is your are not tied to the Builder you’re working for. This is because you can either choose to work with Builders on their jobs as a subbie or as a site manager and if you have your own Builder Licence then if the work dries up with Builders you can take on your own jobs and do your own work in Victoria legally.
